I teach two related videography courses in the Media Communications program within the School of Media Studies and Information Technology. Both courses focus on developing production and post-production skill sets related to digital video storytelling. In the School of Creative and Performing Arts, I teach a course in the Acting for Film & Television program on basic filmmaking and new performance-related production technologies for actors.

I taught documentary filmmaking and production. We explored various styles of documentary storytelling, as well as foundational production and post-production techniques for strong content creation.

Freelance corporate storyteller for Canadian Tire Communications. Projects covered a range of content related to training, marketing, team building, and retail promotion. Produce videos in French and English.

Instructor, Documentary Film

Taught two courses in documentary film, concentrating on conceptualizing a documentary, then producing an actual film. The courses emphasized real-world experience, outlined various styles of documentary storytelling, and provided a hands-on understanding of production and post-production techniques.

News Photographer

News Photographer for CTV News, based in Kitchener, Ontario. Shot a wide range of news features and gathered stories for daily newscasts. Part-time position while producing and directing independent projects.

Assistant to the Producer 

Apr 1994 – Oct 1994

Assisted feature film producer in administering production company. Managed daily operation of office, oversaw completion of several outstanding distribution issues, interacted with talent, staff, and U.S. studio executives of feature film in post-production, on behalf of producer.

Producer Director 

Oct 1988 – Feb 1994

Staff producer and director. Responsible for all aspects of a wide variety of television productions, including weekly live-to-air broadcasts, single-camera documentaries, and multi-camera coverage of live events. Managed teams of staff and volunteer production personnel. Duties also included studio lighting and set preparation, location sound recording, editing, and graphics preparation. Won provincial awards for environmental and business affairs programming.

Writer 

May 1985 – Feb 1987

Researched and wrote the history of Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario. "Caring On The Grand: A History of the Freeport Hospital" told the story of the hospital's role in the fight against tuberculosis in the first half of the 20th century, and its evolution into a long-term rehabilitative hospital prior to substantial expansion in the mid-1980s. Secured funding to print the book, and then supervised design, layout, and printing of the final manuscript.

I've had the opportunity to work with Peter on several projects over the past 10 years as his cameraman and editor. He's prepared, highly creative, detail-oriented, and a hoot to work with. I hope I get the chance to work with him again.

Peter is a very focussed, quality-oriented producer, writer and director. He has excellent communication skills, a great eye for detail, and coordinates projects well. Peter is extremely ethical in his business dealings. I have enjoyed the experience of working with him on a number of projects over the years and would highly recommend him for your next educational or creative film.

Through all phases of the vídeo production and compilation of the Canadian Resources DVD, Peter's attention to detail and the deliverables of the project were invaluable. His extensive knowledge base and ability to find innovative solutions added a richness to the vídeo which is still used today!

I have worked with Peter on a number of projects. His creative talent and technical expertise made it a pleasure to work with him as a film/television Producer/Director and all were extremely well received by various audiences. I recommend Peter's work highly!

I've worked with Pete for over 20 years. He's dependable, and detail oriented in all areas of production. He's got an ability to turn what might be your "typical" project into something far beyond that. He's highly creative and a great writer. Client relations is also another strength. I've hired Pete on many occasions to produce, write and direct projects from corporate to broadcast. I plan on working with him for many years to come.
